My second costume is actually the one I was most looking forward to! It took the most amount of time to put together, I thought of every single detail possible.

I feel like every kid (and maybe adult?!) has their mermaid moment where they dream of being a mermaid! It's also been a huge trend in beauty, i.e. mermaid waves and eyeshadow looks.

I first started with the shell bikini top from Lolli swimwear and which I purchased the day after Halloween last year lol! So I actually ended up planning the costume 1 year in advance!

Then I got the tail or the high waisted mermaid skirt from Etsy.

I knew the accessories would really elevate the costume. The first thing I thought of was the crown which was actually meant for an ice queen costume! When I discovered it on Etsy it reminded me of coral so I thought it would be a good match.

The second main accessory I incorporated was pearls! I got two of the longest strands I could find on Amazon.

Even though I was excited about the costume, I was looking forward to the makeup look the most. I went above and beyond with it and actually created a custom eyeshadow palette on Anastasia Beverly Hills!

I handpicked these shadows and created a custom eyeshadow quad of blues and greens with iridescent and shimmer finishes.
From left to right: Emerald, Mermaid, Teal Shimmer, Venice.

To paint the scales on my face I used the Charlotte Tilbury cream eyeshadow in Veruschka which is a dark creamy green that has a slight iridescent quality to it. I painted them on with a small, precise eyeshadow brush. I originally was going to use a stencil but I ended up free-handing the scales.

To complete the beauty look I painted my nails in a blue/ green holographic nail polish from OPI called This Color's Making Waves. It ended up looking really cool and being a subtle detail that people really liked in person.

Happy Halloween!
